With a bag of tricks from sound and science he composes thinking tools made with singing mosquitoes, synchronised fireflies, metronomes, choreographed ants, neural networks, and flute-carrying pigeons. Conducted in close collaboration with specialists and scientific labs, his work blends machine learning with animal intelligence. Arranging human, animal and nonbiological actors into constellation-like scores, he creates environments and conditions for musical patterns to spontaneously emerge.<\/p>\n<p>Referred to as \u201cArtist of the future\u201d (Le Monde), \u201cMaestro of the swarm\u201d (Nature) or simply \u201cpathetic\u201d (Vimeo) his projects have been shown at Palais de Tokyo and Centre Pompidou, Paris; Shanghai Biennale; Diriyah Biennale; and Colomboscope Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n<p>As a composer and sound designer, Meier Wiratunga has collaborated with artists including Bj\u00f6rk, Holly Herndon and Pierre Huyghe. He is a collaborator at IRCAM Centre Pompidou and teaches Sound Arts at the HKB Academy of the Arts, Bern. Avec un ensemble d\u2019astuces issues du son et de la science, il conduit des exp\u00e9riences compos\u00e9es de moustiques chanteurs, lucioles synchronis\u00e9es, m\u00e9tronomes, fourmis, r\u00e9seaux neuronaux ou pigeons instrumentistes. En collaboration avec des experts et des laboratoires scientifiques, il articule intelligence artificielle avec intelligence animale pour faire \u00e9merger de la musique.<\/p>\n<p>Qualifi\u00e9 de \u00ab Maestro de l\u2019essaim \u00bb (Nature) ou simplement de \u00ab path\u00e9tique \u00bb (Vimeo), son travail a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 entre autres au Palais de Tokyo, au Centre Pompidou, \u00e0 la Biennale de Shanghai et au Colomboscope Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n<p>En tant que musicien et producer Meier Wiratunga collabore avec Bj\u00f6rk, Holly Herndon et Pierre Huyghe parmi d\u2019autres. Il est collaborateur de l\u2019IRCAM depuis 2006 et enseigne les arts sonores \u00e0 la Haute \u00e9cole des Arts de Berne.
